How to use Xorg 7.1.1 (Ubuntu/Kubuntu Edgy Eft) with a Matrox G400 graphics card and a Belinea B102005 Monitor

When upgrading to Edgy Eft, my monitor stopped working in 1600x1200 mode: It insisted that the frequencies were outside its range. This is weird, as the Monitor supports the following parameters:

Horizontal Synchronisation (hsync):
30-83 kHz
Vertical Synchronisation (vsync):
50-85 Hz
Pixel Clock (dotclock):
up to 170 MHz

The Parameters chosen automatically by the X server were all within this specification, if the /var/log/Xorg.0.log may be trusted. After quite some testing, adding the following Modeline to the Section "Monitor" fixed the problem:

Modeline "1600x1200" 135.00 1600 1664 1856 2160 1200 1201 1204 1250 +hsync +vsync

This effectively limits the mode clock to 135 MHz, which seems to be the highest rate supported by the monitor for 1600x1200.
